Skincare by Skin Type

Good skincare is not a single prescription applied the same way to everyone; it largely depends on your skin type. Getting to know your skin is the first and most important step in understanding which products and habits will suit you.

How do you identify your skin type?

A simple observation helps: notice how your skin feels a few hours after cleansing. If it feels tight and flaky, it is dry; if the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) is shiny but the cheeks are normal, it is combination; if it is shiny all over with visible pores, it is oily; if it easily becomes red and irritated, it may be sensitive. Skin type is not fixed; it can change with age, season and hormones.

Approach by skin type

What is common to every skin type?

Whatever the skin type, three things do not change: gentle cleansing, moisturising suited to the skin's needs, and regular sun protection. Sun protection is the most fundamental and often the most neglected step of skin health; it is recommended every day, regardless of skin type.

What to avoid?

Trying many new products at once, aggressive scrubbing, frequent peeling and harsh products that dry the skin cause problems for most skin types. When the skin reacts (redness, burning, dryness), the best thing is to stop and simplify the routine. Consulting a professional when unsure is a good habit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my skin type change over time?

Yes. Age, season, hormones and environment can affect skin type; the routine may need to be updated accordingly.

Does oily skin need a moisturiser?

Yes. Oily skin also needs moisture; a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser is suitable. Cutting moisture can increase oil production.

What is the most important rule for sensitive skin?

Simplicity and caution: products with few ingredients, free of irritants, and a patch test before trying anything new.

Should I determine my skin type myself?

You can get a general idea; but if there is a persistent problem or uncertainty, a professional assessment gives a more accurate result.
