Dermapen is a microneedling application that stimulates the skin's own repair mechanism by creating controlled micro-channels with very fine needles. The aim is to improve the skin's texture, tone and overall vitality by supporting collagen and elastin production. It is a non-surgical medical aesthetic procedure and is usually applied over several sessions.
What is Dermapen (microneedling)?
Dermapen is a pen-shaped device with many sterile, very fine needles at its tip. These needles create tiny channels on the skin's surface that are invisible to the eye. The skin perceives these micro-stimuli as a repair signal and produces new collagen during the healing process. The terms micro-needling and microneedling describe the same procedure.
How does Dermapen work?
The controlled micro-channels created in the skin trigger the natural wound-healing process. During this process, collagen and elastin production increases; over time the skin can become firmer, smoother and more even in appearance. In addition, these micro-channels can help skincare ingredients penetrate the skin better.

How is the procedure performed, is it painful?
Before the application, a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin to increase comfort. During the procedure most people feel a mild tingling; it is generally well tolerated and short. The depth and area of application are adjusted according to the skin's needs.
What happens after the procedure, what is recovery like?
In the first 24–48 hours after the procedure, mild redness and a feeling of warmth are normal; the skin may look like a light sunburn and this subsides quickly. During this period, gentle cleansing, generous moisturising and especially sun protection are very important. Following the doctor's advice on things like make-up, hot environments and intense exercise makes healing easier.
What is the relationship between Dermapen and mesotherapy/PRP?
Microneedling can be done on its own, or it can be planned together with PRP or skin-revitalising ingredients. In these combinations, the micro-channels opened by the Dermapen help the applied ingredient reach the skin better. Which approach is suitable is determined by an examination.
Who should be careful?
In situations such as an active acne infection, active inflammation/wounds on the skin, certain skin diseases, bleeding disorders, pregnancy-breastfeeding or known allergies, Dermapen may not be suitable or may need to be postponed. For this reason, it is important that the skin and medical history are evaluated by a doctor before the application.
